Thanksgiving Thoughts
The best thing I like about being a mom and Thanksgiving is the fact that I can change the “tradition” from year to year. One year we had duck and were with my dad and his new family. Another year, after me and my children moved to Utah, we had NO family, but friends. I invited all to join us. Depending on my work schedule, we may have Thanksgiving before, after or on that day.
I also like the clean up. After all the guests, if any, have left, and the kids are in bed sleeping off the turkey, I clean and think about what went on and what we did and about the past Thanksgivings. I think about family who has passed away and friends that are no longer in contact.
I am looking forward to this year’s we get to have two, one at my house and one at my roommate’s family house. My family is better off than last year and even 10 years ago and even 15 years ago. I am grateful for everything.
