Moments
I snapped at him, “You know I haven’t always been this way! I’ve had my moments.” He snapped back, “Days in the sun? Moments, you were second to none? Did what you thought you couldn’t do?”
“Like that plane ride coming home from the war, that summer my son was born! Looking at me now, you might not know it, I’ve had my moments!”
He stood there wondering if a single soul on earth would care at all, miss him when he was gone. He said, “You know, I haven’t always been this way… I’ve had my moments.” I challenged, “Like the day you walked away from your wine for the woman who became your wife?” “I’ve had my moments!” He trumpeted.
I said, telling my story for one more time, “I’ve had my moments, days in the sun, moments, I was second to none, moments when I knew I did what I thought I couldn’t do! Like that cool night, I was right there, wasn’t scared a bit, and I helped to pull you through! Looking at me now you might not know it, oh we’ve had our moments.” We jumped.
