End

He looked at me with pity in his eyes. With a deep breath he tells me that he doesn’t feel the same anymore, that what we had was great and he will always cherish what we had. With a few simple words, he ends it, ends us, ends everything. He says the words kindly, like he’s doing me a favour.

In those few moments my heart shatters into a thousand tiny pieces. My breathing becomes ragged and I have to clutch my chest to keep myself from falling apart.

When he’s done, I force a smile and tell him that it’s ok. I tell him that no matter how he feels, I will always love him and he will always be a part of me. I hug him one last time and walk away with tears in my eyes.

I’ve noticed that in then end, we think of the beginning.
