Contract

On December 11th, Nancy arrived at the studio of WPGS Productions as per the letter’s instruction. She had dressed in her best outfit, a pale pink suit that her husband Dale had bought for her last year.

Dale was not as enthusiastic about Nancy’s television debut. Where Nancy saw an enormous opportunity for money and fame, Dale saw his poor wife, sprawled on a stretcher. Nonetheless, he had accompanied Nancy to WPGS’s headquarters.

After they introduced themselves to a receptionist, she gestured for them to to have a seat and someone would be with them soon. Someone was with them, though not soon. The man introduced himself as “Rick Riodran! Proudcer of Treadmills to Bucks!” He spoke in all exclamation marks and had a jaunty self-assured air about him.

He outlined the dangers and, quote, “all that legal mumbo jumbo.” He produced a contract which Nancy signed immediately, despite a warning from Dale.

Rick smiled at her. “Excellent. We’ll see you back here on the day of the show, December 30th.”
