Surprises (II)

“Fuck. You.” I said and walked out the door. I couldn’t win in a fight with him, so there was no use in trying. I have places to go anyway and he isn’t trying to stop me.

I’m in the back of the bus, my bleeding cheek resting on the cold window on my way to club Majesty. I drift off into space and think about how life would have turned out differently for me if I would’ve been born in a different family. Or if I was raised in a different manner.

“Hey,” says a voice taking me back to reality. I turn over and see Ethan smiling at me with his blue eyes and pearly whites.

“Um, hi,” I say awkwardly. I wasn’t expecting him to talk to me again. Except if he wanted something.

“What’s wrong?” He says sounding almost… sympathetic.

“Nothing. Just—” then I think about it. Maybe he’s just going to try and blackmail me into having sex with him, “—I’m not having sex with you, I hope you know.”

“I don’t want to have to have sex,” he points out.

“Then what do you honestly want?”

“Honestly, I just want to talk.”
