The pair heaved the case into the back of the truck and got in.

“So, where to?” Janus asked. Lauren thought for a moment. “Well, the most paved road is that way— she gestured to the south —so that likely leads to a larger city.” Janus nodded and turned onto the road.

“Well, that went much better than I expected.” Janus remarked as they drove. “Yeah, I guess Carmen wont have to use the backup after all.” Lauren agreed, “unless we don’t make it back in time.”

Janus smiled tightly, “Yeah…we’ll make it in time. You still got the cache on the inside of your jumpsuit, right?” Lauren responded, “Yup, it’s all there, nice and warm.”
