Weird Response
I rarely have outbursts like that, but Brett was honestly getting on my last nerve. Which is probably why I feel weird when he stops me in the hallway on my way to my 7th period class.
“Gabe, about what happened in 4th…” he says. I look at him awkwardly because of the randomness and his sudden tenderness.
“You made fun of gay people, Brett,” I say.
“I know, and I’m sorry about that. Just appearances I have to keep up,”
“Stop sounding like something from Degrassi, Brett. Thats no excuse,”
“Okay, Gabe. I get it, look. How about we hang out or something. Show you I’m a nice guy and all,”
Is he flirting with me? The school’s top homophobe is asking the gay kid to hang out. I’ve got to see where this is going to end up.
“Fine, but I swear to God, if I hear any rumors about this…”
“You wont,” he assures me, “meet me in the lobby after school.” I nod and I’m back on my way to my 7th period class.
The Gay kid with the Homophobe.
Seems like this friendship will bring a lot of drama.
Cant wait.
