I can’t say I have a genre that I’ve never done, so what I felt was out of my “genre” for this one was the use of the present tense, the insane amounts of personification, and the fairly unusual level of detail I go into here.
I also think that I don’t usually deliberately go for a tense scene (which I will continue, there’s a bit of a twist I want to add in…)
Stunning. The personification creates tangible tension and extreme drama, the whole house is threatening to reveal her/his presence. I’m biting my fingernails.
I enjoyed the feeling of it all, but the use of an ampersand (even if it was just for length reasons) kind of threw me off. I think part of the fun on Ficly is that time spent rearranging everything to fit in the 1024 character limit without losing anything.
