Is it a ficus-female?
Or a Magnolia-male?

Why does he have to transplant them so they will survive? Otherwise good story. :) Leaves just enough questions unanswered to keep me reading.

I wasn’t sure about that either, but I just couldn’t think of another way to end it at that point. But thanks!
