Well that ending leaves lots of questions unanswered – for you to, of course, answer in sequels!
The descriptions of Earth are particularly strong here, I like that you haven’t attributed the planet’s decay to global warming or nuclear war, you’ve left it more open ended – far more possibility this way…
You seem to understand that emotion, internal dialogue and relationships are as much a part of decent science fiction as aliens and ray guns, which makes this very readable… MH :)
