The story has been very enjoyable so far. I’m just confused about these vampires – why are they afraid of the humans, when they are clearly more powerful??

It will be explained, but not just yet. Until then, think of it this way: there is strength in numbers.

There are more humans than vampires. There will always be more humans [these vampires cannot reproduce]. The vampires may be stronger, but they are frightened by numbers, not strength of individuals.

@ Sophia D’Soleil: I get it. It’s like in ‘30 Days of Night’ in which vampires have been in hiding so long no one believes that they still exist. They had to hide to survive or humans would have eradicated them long ago. We might not be as fast or as strong but as you say we outnumber them.

In that sense, yes, but the vampires didn’t exist before… it’s kind of a long story, but that’s why I’m here: to tell it. :P
