The parents have cyborg implants too (remember, the mother has the same little bump as the daughter does).
What I was aiming for with this piece was to show the mechanical reactions of the cyborg parents, but show a little of the mother’s humanity breaking through. Tricky somewhat in 1024 chars. Note that the e-mail conversation happened during a brief hesitation during the washing up, they didn’t have to go to a terminal to receive or send the message.
This is a great series. For some reason I feel like it should be “CyLink” instead of “Cylink”. I know, I know… so modern and overdone but it really fits here.
oh i know, ethel, that she has the same bump, that’s what I meant.. i like the cyborg communications, just when i read it the first time, i was startled by the jump in storytelling format. :)
