Hidden Son
Time flew by as they talked. After they finished their meal Carol leaned across the table, “You aren’t really a super-villain are you?” her eyes dancing with amusement.
“Nope”, Chris confessed, “I just stumble into beautiful women. I’m really a graphics artist.” Chris said smoothly, his gaze never leaving her eyes.
Why did she have to lean over when she’s wearing that outfit? He complained to himself. Mustn’t look. Her eyes, get lost in her eyes. Her eyes were beautiful.
She leaned back, a look of satisfaction on her face, as though he had passed some test. There was also slight disappointment in her eyes, only for a moment. She looked at her watch. “I better get back to work.” She said quietly.
Chris pursed his lips, “I hope lunch made up for our, uh, tumble, earlier.”
“Oh definitely, it’s been a lot of fun.”
There was an awkward pause.
“Can I have your number?” they both said at once. Carol laughed and Chris grinned.
“I’ll give you a call.” Chris promised after they had exchanged numbers.
