While I wrote a hopefully amusing prequel (playing with an alternate version of a classroom setting), I don’t envy your task. I really suck at poetry.

Why not just write a paragraph on war in prose, then put each sentence on separate lines? It’ll look like a poem (I know, I give terrible advice; feel free to ignore it).
