Superb. The set-up looks like everything is about to fail. There are many marriages that wouldn’t survive that perfect storm. Well done for showing us a love that can survive this and provide support and companionship when everything else is failing.

This makes me recall that rather gripping scene in The Abyss where Bud’s descending in that fluid-breathing suit and Lindsey’s telling him about how much she loves him. This ficlet is just as powerful, if not more.
