Change (I)
Ethan is supposed to be released tomorrow, which means the officer stuck to his promise. I decide I have to start taking care of myself, for my sake and the baby’s. I’m still debating on if I should keep it or not, but thats not my concern. I just want to see if its still healthy. The smell of the doctor’s office is new to me, but I better get used to it.
“Stacie Cole?” The attendant finally says after about half an hour. She ushers me to a room where a doctor is typing in his computer.
“Hello, Ms. Cole. What’s the problem?”
“I want to know if… my baby is okay,” I tell him truthfully. He gives me an awkward look, but asks no questions. I’m glad there are none at the free clinic.
“This clinic is free, but ultrasounds cost about 5 dollars,”
“I can pay for it,” I tell him. He nods at me and types something in his computer.
“I may need to ask you a few questions,”
“No problem,”
“Are many weeks are you?”
“About 3 or 4,”
“Sexually active since?” I’m hesitant, but I swallow my fear.
“Yes, I have.”
