Time for Some Ice Cream

“Gabe, she admitted to be that she…” Shay pauses for a second as the students pass on their way to the buses, “like girls too.”

“Then why was she making out with Austin at the party?” I ask. This is something I would want Austin to tell me, but I trust it from Shay more and it’s a better way to tell if he’s lied to me or not, “wait, don’t answer that. We have to get home and pull out the bucket of ice cream. This is definitely a time for chocolate.” I get up and help Shay to her feet as well.

“Gabe, you ready?” The voice which has caused me so much confusion says behind me. Wow, he really does want to hang out.

“Yeah, I’m sorry, but…” Before I can finish my apology Shay interrupts.

“Gabe, go ahead, I’ll be fine. I’ll take you up on that ice cream offer later,” she says. She wipes the tears off her face and gives me a hug, “don’t completely trust him,” she whispers, “but figure out what happened at that party for me.”

Shay walks away and now I’m going to be alone with Austin for a few hours.
