Oh this is a little scary… I don’t even know if it would be right for anyone to sequel/prequel, I love the ambiguity of this :)

The character reminds me a little of Miss Haversham from ‘Great Expectations’ for some reason – she’s very well written – you clearly know more about Dolores than we do! MH

It actually wasn’t meant to be ambiguous… maybe a title change is in order? She’s just a professional mourner, nothing sinister at all. Thanks for pointing out that it’s not clear!

I like it this way. Very much. The ambiguity doesn’t mean she can’t be a professional mourner, but it does raise tantalising questions about why, and how deeply involved she is with her… profession? Please don’t edit!
