Christmas of '77
The shag carpet glowed from the light of the television set. The stockings which were daddy’s old socks were hanging on the wall, because we didn’t have a fireplace. We made due though.
Christmas was far from my mind as I was obsessed with 2 things, Star Wars and Star Wars. I loved that movie! It has to be the best movie of all time! I should know I’m eight years old. My daddy took me to see it in the summer and I saw it 3 times! He had to drive me all the way to Cleveland to see it. Man, oh man was that awesome. I was such a huge nerd. haha
It was then I saw it, I was watching something called The Pinwheel Network that just started in Columbus when I saw the most magnificent, super-duper announcement of all. Star Wars toys!!! I knew right then and there that I wanted them. I didn’t care if I had to mail Santa every day from now until Christmas I needed to get them.
I looked up to mom and exclaimed, “Mom, I want that!”
“But they don’t have toys yet, just an empty box sweety.”
“I don’t care!”
