I feel that the abrupt tone change from the prequel when the narrator picks up the note is a little jarring. Would have preferred your own intro… but:
Really like the note. It’s a taught, calm, precise retelling of an encounter of the mythos, written as if to fulfill some further goal. The style reminds me of some of the narration from Primer (great film though storytelling is intentionally awful):
“Meticulous, yes. Methodical. Educated. They were these things. Nothing extreme. Like anyone, they varied. There were days of mistakes and laziness and infighting. And there were days, good days, when by anyone’s judgment… they wouId have to be considered clever.”
