The Chronomechs (6)

“Don’t open it yet,” the woman gently implored. She stood next to him naked but wrapped in her white, fur wrap.
Staring into her strangely hypnotic eyes Lucian nodded dumbly, “Of course.”
Sliding into the carriage seat across from him, she closed the door against the snow and cold as the wheels began to roll.
Gracing him with a smile so beautiful it was painful she said, “My name is Persephone.”
“I’m…Lucian,” he managed to stammer.
“What you hold on your lap is very valuable,” she motioned to the snowstained package on his lap. “As well as very dangerous.”
“What is it,” he whispered looking down at the paper in wonder.
“We don’t know,” Persephone pushed her wet hair back from her face. “But the group for whom I work believe it may be the key to stopping the Chronomechs.”
“Those creatures who attacked us back there,” Lucian motioned back in the direction from which they had come.
Persephone nodded, “Yes…it’s why they were trying to stop you. If we can get this package to the right people…well…”
