My only suggestion is to remove the aside in the parentheses; it breaks up the flow. You can replace it with the word “appetizer” to get the point across that raw meat is standard fare for the Denar.

Nice power-play between Nyci and Therys towards the end… You’ve written Nyci wonderfully as the dutiful diplomat forced to improvise – well done! MH :)
