Merc's On A Bridge

I slowed my past to a walk. Drew was most likely not going to follow me now and I was a safe distance away.

A bloodcurdling scream rang out across the bridge.

It could even be heard over the cars.

A death-like chill began to climb up my spine.

It was Drew.

“Where you running Arrow-Boy?!” he screamed in a voice that was filled with bloodlust

I began to run again when a bullet exploded onto the pavement about a foot away from me.

“Don’t move cowboy! If I wanted you dead, you’d be lying dead on the pavement already.” he shouted

I stopped walking.

And literally began to cringe worried that he might kill me right there.

“Sticks and Stones may break my bones; but Drew will probably kill me.” I thought

A hand landed on my shoulder. And something hard came up against my back.

“Keep walking Archer-Boy; We need to talk.” he saod

I swallowed my pride and began walking.

I probably could surprise him with my combat knife but the chances weren’t in my favor.

Plus, I wanted to hear what he had to say.
