Decisions (III)
“Ma’am… I said are you sure about this?” The lady repeats. I take a deep breathe. The doubt doesn’t stop invading my brain, but I can’t help relate to some of it. I’ve never been known to back down, but there is a first time for everything, right? Including having my first baby.
“I—” I begin, but the doors burst open and I turn around to see Ethan out of breath.
“Stacie, stop! Don’t go through with this, please,” Ethan begs, breathing heavily, “I looked everywhere for you, I have to tell you not to do this!”
“Ethan, please. I’m already here… I have to do this. We can’t have a baby,” I say. He begins to walk closer to me and I meet him half way; in the middle of the room. God knows the secretary is getting a thrill out of this.
“We can take care of it… We’ll find a way, Stacie. We can make this work,”
“What makes you think that?” I ask.
“Because… well, Stacie. It hasn’t been a long time, only a few months, but I think I’m falling in love with you.”
