Effector

The prince panted in exhaustion, holding himself up against his knees. They were in a green meadow, the grass was up this his thighs.

“Is this it?” The prince looked around, the flowers were bright as daylight, but the stars twinkled in the skies.

Yes. The wind picked up and whistled through the meadow. The sound was actually musical.

“What is this place?” The prince straightened himself.

Someplace where it is safe to show my true form. The robin perched on a large sunflower and seemed to slowly melt into a different form: A large reptilian creature.

“You are an effector. This is your destiny.” the dragon said in the voice from before, sending chills and shivers through the boy.

“What does that mean?” the boy gulped as he couldn’t look away.

“You are the human effector, you will do what needs to be done.” The dragon replied evenly. “Now, pick your flower and prepare your shield.” The boy looked around, flummoxed.

“MAKE YOUR SHIELD” the reptile commanded, spurring the prince to action.
