Aaargh! Panic!

This is very cinematic, it feels almost like screenplay it’s so movie-esque. That’s s good thing – particularly for this challenge, because you’ve set a scene without dedicating loads of space to doing it – you’ve worked it in with the rest of the highly melodramatic, techy narrative.

Good genre work Kaellinn, is there anything you can’t write? MH :)

Thanks for the comment, M.H.! This piece was actually 50% longer when I originally wrote it. It was painful to edit it down to what you see here, but I’m still happy with it.

Akin to the ambush set up by the Foundation in Asimov’s Foundation and Empire, the carefully timed return-from-lightspeed (hyperspace in IA’s work) to turn an inferior, supposed-to-be-surprised force transforming it into a superior, we-knew-you-were-coming-all-the-time ambush.

I haven’t read the Foundation series, but it is on my list!
