This made me laugh…I’m American and love people with accents, but I hope I’m not like that. And I only make fun of people’s accents if we’re good friends…and it was interesting to read what the English stereotypes of Americans are.
I think in the last line there should be a comma after hurt, but other than that, this was really funny =]
Wonderful! Although it’s the kind of story I was expecting, you do it so well I can’t really complain… The word ‘GAWD’ absolutely makes it – are you a fellow Brit PJ? Good work old chum – MH :)
oh woad…that’s brilliant. I do hate british stereotypes though. I see an American person and before they can open their mouths I say: “I hate fish and chips, I don’t drink tea, I don’t know the queen and I don’t live in a stupid little thatched cottage in the country!!!”
Sorry for the outburst. Great writing and absolutely hilarious… Abby x
Thanks, MH. I know it was the kind of story most people were expecting, however a) Yeah, i am a fellow Brit and these things just irritate the hell outa me! and b) I’ve been having a major creative block before now, and having an idea has really made my week!
Haha, I really, really hope I’m not like this… I appreciated the repetitive Oh My GAWD’s because that even irritates this American over here. Just like Someday said, it’s interesting to see how other nations stereotype Americans. :D
This is hilarious. I love that they ask about tea, but I totally would have asked about crumpets as well. Oh, and the loo. British accents are adorable.
One nit-pick is that, in general, rednecks are the opposite of bible bashers. They’re generally the ones who believe it so literally that they think evolution was invented by Hitler.
