Unrecognized Life?

I stepped once more out of the safety of my rocket out on to the alien landscape. To my surprise the crunchy surface from before was now smooth. It wasn’t for a decent walk till I heard the familiar crunchy squeaking sounds under my feet. I bent down to pick up another rock when a loud buzzing seemed to fill the very air around me. Naturally I stood to look around, to try to spot the source of the noise. But all I could see was a thick cloud of dust rising from the rocks all around me. I could feel the fabric of my suit being bombarded by this strange sandstorm and the purple dust clung to my helmet blurring my vision. I turned back to run to my ship and if I didn’t know any better I’d say that the cloud of dust was following me. By running I was able to put some distance between me and the cloud and when I finally reached the safety of my rocket I saw the container that I had placed the rock in open and empty on the floor the rock nowhere to be seen.
