Your imagery here is outstanding. It’s a bit flowery and in-depth in places, for example ‘cumulus’ seems a bit OTT for me, but overall the scene you set is stunning.

The central character and the mysterious military man work well also…

I think the sentence ‘realised how much I missed him’ would work better as ‘I HAD’ seeing as he’s back now?

Anyway, this was very good. Imagery, as everyone has already stated, was outstanding.

Lovely parallel story with the return of the sun and Spring matching the return of this individual and the hope that it might lead to something more. Lovely little piece of simple, straight-forward storytelling.
