The Little Things

Linda Collins awoke to another monotonous day in 1950’s America. She got the little ankle-biters out to the bus stop, and started her daily routine. She commenced with the ironing of Frank’s blue button-down shirts. After crisply folding them, she popped out her copy of Betty Crocker’s Calendar Cook Book and started cooking a casserole in her slow cooker Crock-Pot®. She then sat down to sift through the mail.

The latest copy of Dig magazine for Rose-Ann.
A hand-full of bills for Frank.
And…her shoulders lifted. She took in a deep breath of pure bliss, as her entire day brightened by the unexpected gift of happiness.
