A few things spring to mind:
petty details: Captain’s name is spelled two different ways. Also, since Michael thinks in metrics, he also thinks of soccer as football.
What is ACU? As a reader unfamiliar with military detail, this interupted my train of thought.
This entry left me with questions. Why would military men discuss this in a public bar? Would they actually introduce themselves by rank or would they assume Michael knew since he was presumably working for Mike Wright?

Abstract

I like the little bits of semi-random stuff you sort of throw in there, like the soccer/football thing. It makes the atmosphere more believable. (Even more so, since Bahrain has a rugby union.)

@GNWG – I think in metrics a lot but still call soccer “soccer”. I’m an American, but I’m a science major.
