A good day
I love days like today. It’s cold, but the sun’s glow makes a valiant effort to warm me. The tempature is almost bearable, until the chill wind starts blowing again, ruffling my hair like a playful tousle from an old friend. As I walk towards the big oak tree in our yard, a single brown leaf falls, having finally lost its fight to stay on the branch. Before it hits the ground, the wind catches the leaf and sends it dancing and skipping across the yard. The wind pauses for a brief second, and the leaf comes to a stop beneath another tree. A bird swoops down and scoops the leaf up in its beak, apparently needing it for a nest. The sun realizes the wind has stopped and tries to warm me again. I bask in its glow and breathe a sigh of happiness. I love days like today.
