I like this on a a couple of levels. There’s the always classy absurdism of quoting regulations in the face of gunfire, and the slightly more implied scenario of those who start the war hardly ever fight the war.

Really well written bit of dialogue in a dangerous environment – the details make it, like the ‘not my promise anyway’ line… Strong contrast between the characters, and a fab little hook at the end – good work! MH :)
