I recognized this as a play of Peter Pan, but did not know who Cathy Rigby was/is. I now understand the connection between the title and the story. They gave the part to a woman due to the flying rig being terribly painful on the male genitalia.
Funny little story, and with the added research, even more humorous.
I agree with MH as there are a few lines that could be cleaned up a bit, but overall it was written well enough. At first I was imagining some sadistic performance where the actors were playing the part against their will, but the character names at the end shunned that idea.
I generally don’t actually LOL when I’m reading something, though your last two paragraphs made an exception. I agree with John Perkins that, while a strong story, the nuance is a little hazy at first. With the revelation it’s even stronger. As evolved and esoteric as I like to think my taste or sense of humor has become, a shot to the groin can always be funny.
Good stuff, and the title fits perfectly. I love that you made them elementary students (and, yes, they probably do talk like that) and that the audience clapped again at the end.
