Very twisty at the beginning, first convincing us it’s an argument, then the director makes us think it’s the play, but then – oh, no, it really is an argument!
I think you’ve captured the more commercial side of theatre with this, because let’s face it, it’s not all luvvies and thesps, it’s a tough ol’ world…
Nicely done. You really had me wondering until the director’s last outburst what the exact nature was. Real situation, then scene, then real. Good job.
And yes, there’s lots of hooking up backstage during a play. That’s why I joined Drama Club in high school.
Thanks for the comments! I’m not usually one to use profanity, but it seemed appropriate to the characters. I certainly feel like my theater friends are liberal with their swearing, on the whole. And I’m trying to get away from twist endings, so I thought maybe a twist beginning would be a nice change. ;-)
