Invitation
“If you are going to be wrapping up Michaels affairs, then perhaps you would be interested in attending a small gathering at the provincial governor’s residence tomorrow night. It’s a chance to meet… colleagues, exchange information and ideas and network. If you have no plans I will make arrangements for you and a guest to be put on the list,” Jadger said.
“I’d have to check my calendar, but I think I’m free tomorrow night.” I said as I glanced towards Rashida. She gave me a small nod.
“Excellent. I look forward to seeing you. Most of the people in our business will be there. Oh, just to let you know, it’s black tie and everyone has to pass through metal detectors. So you may want to dress appropriately.”
“I’ll try to remember, “ I said.
He stood and straightened his jacket. “Until tomorrow then. Auf Wiedersehn.” As he left, he glanced at Rashida and smiled.
“He makes me shudder”, she said when he was gone.
“I think he likes you”, I observed.
“No,” she said quietly. “He prefers young boys. Very young.”
