Grammatical rules like that are merely the results of stuck-up early grammarians like Lowth who tried to map Latinate grammars onto decidedly Germanic languages. It’s a shame that it’s so ingrained that you see people tearing each other to peaces on both sides. I often try to buck the system and choose prepositions to end sentences with. Unfortunately, I often find myself hating such sentences, and oftentimes end up rewriting them even more awkwardly than before in an attempt at “grammatical correctness”.
