Flabbergasted
“So you’re dumping her just like you dumped me?!” Julia asked flabbergasted. She leant against the back of the worn brown couch dejectedly.
“Yes,” Harold said “I realise now after all these years it’s you I love, I never really loved her.” He ran his hand through his hair. “It was….a midlife crisis sort of thing….” he hastily tried to explain.
“Mid life crisis? MID LIFE CRISIS!?” Julia stood up, raging, her eyes full of fire, but not the kind that he had loved. He backed away slowly as if she were a wild animal.
Julia took a breath, “You left me! I haven’t heard from you in 3 years!” she hissed. “And now you come back all sweetness and light wanting back in?” She shook her head incredulously.
“We can make it work Jules” Harold said, taking a step forward. “This is the last one. Then it’s just you and me”
“Don’t call me Jules!” she spat across the room, “Don’t you dare, not after what you put me through”
She turned her back away from him, not even bearing to look at him. “You disgust me” she said.
