Frida Kahlo – ‘The Broken Column’

This is good, but I wish you’d had focused further on Frida’s inner emotions.

The bus accident was 13 years before this painting, and I don’t think it reflects pain related to this. Nor from Diego because she painted this after they were remarried and before Diego died. I think you could have gone a lot further into the angst of being a female artist who’s works were not entirely accepted by her time.

But well written.

Their relationship was bad at the best of times, and outright dangerous at the worst.

To quote her:
’There have been two great accidents in my life. One was the trolley, and the other was Diego. Diego was by far the worst. ’

I should also mention, this was far harder than I expected it to be. I don’t think anyone can truly convey the amount of pain and sorrow Frida lived through and how she saw herself accurately.

I think it took a lot of courage to choose this piece of art. It is indeed hard to write about someone else’s pain, even though it is a common theme in artwork.
