The Beauty Lies Outside
Drew sat between the turrets of Quart Towers, staring out beyond the city to the sunset in the distance. The city was beautiful enough with its combination of ancient structure and modern technology, but he found his inspiration in the simple acts of nature.
And he only had one night left here.
He wasn’t supposed to write. His parents wanted him to go out or act like a normal teenager, but as soon as he saw this sunset over the walls of the city he had to find a better vantage point.
Drew knew he probably wasn’t supposed to be up here. He hadn’t exactly got here by the most legal of means.
It had taken him 20minutes to navigate up the cracked walls of Quart Towers, and his clean shirt had turned a muddy beige.
Totally worth it. The red winter sunset reflected into the river turning it into a stream of wine. The light reflected off the windows of tiny cottages in the distance creating red stars in the beige fields.
How could he not write about something so spectacular? He smiled and took out his notebook.
