The Future
I opened my eyes, and looked around. Everything was dark and dreary. Jeez. I sleep for a couple hundreds years and nature is gone, I thought. I frowned deeply. There weren’t any trees anywhere. No trees, no bushes, and no flowers. There wasn’t even any grass!
“What happened to all the nature?” I asked a man who was walking past me. He looked at me, bewildered.
“Nature? There hasn’t been any nature on Earth for fifty years,” he replied, looking at my as if I were crazy.
“Really!” I said, shocked. Fifty years! Impossible, I thought.
“Yeah. Where have you been?” he asked, jokingly.
“Sleeping,” I said.
“Sure,” he said, rolling his eyes. Then he walked away quickly.
No nature. Not possible. How were people still alive? Nature gave us oxygen. You can’t live without it. Then it hit me.
Technology. That was the answer to everyone’s problems. Why not air too? I sighed. I would never see the forest again. Not lovely gardens, and no grassy hills.
I would do anything to see the green again.
