I think this is some kind of sacrificial thing, but I have to admit I am a little confused.
Still, there was some lovely imagery towards the beginning, very vivid – and I enjoyed the dialogue in the second paragraph, it seemed realistic…
If I’ve got it right in my head, the ending is intriguingly foreboding as well, though it does a feel a little limp – I don’t think there’s enough punch in that last line of dialogue to hook the reader as effectively as it could.
But I enjoyed it on the whole – it could certainly go places! MH :)
