Apostates
“So who does the Muslim Brotherhood consider to be apostates,” I asked.
“Shi’a, Sufi, Ba’ath, anyone who isn’t practicing their brand of Islam, take your pick,” Clarke shrugged.
“So what about you,” I asked Clarke. “Are you an apostate?”
“I think being an American trumps any feelings they may have for me as a fellow Muslim. They’d just as soon kill me and then pray over my body. Besides, I’m a non denominational Muslim.”
“It’s time we started telling people what we know. Our people and the Iraqi government have to be informed,” Rogers said.
“What about the Russians,” I asked.
“If the Russians had a hand in this then Gregor Ulinov is up to his eyeballs in it. Nothing they touch doesn’t have his fingerprints all over it. We’ll pick him up.”
“If you do that he will clam up. He might be a little more open with someone he felt was a fellow smuggler. Especially one that he wanted to do business with.”
“You may have a point,” Rogers said.
