No More Mommy
The rain slowly fell from the sky. It fell faster and faster. The sky was a very dark gray. Fitting the mood of the people.
Her hand tightened around her dad’s. Tears mixed with the rain that fell from her face. Everyone was crying with her. Even the heavens seemed to weep with them.
“So I wont see mommy again?” the little girl asked her dad. Her eyes were big, brown, and filled with saddness and pain.
“No,” her dad said softly, “Mommy’s gone to a better place. Where she’ll wait for you. She’ll spend all her time with grandma and grandpa. She wont be lonely. But she’ll miss you.” Tears were flowing steadily from her dad’s eyes. Her dad hugged her, and she held on tightly.
They held still for what seemed to be forever. Then her dad let her go and straightened up. He took her hand, and walked forward. The girl and her dad stopped and dropped a single rose with the other flowers.
