Bobby Burns Did It
I have participated in a number of challenges since joining last August – 36 to be exact. I have always read with interest what inspires the challenge.
There have been literary challenges such as Shakespeare, word and phrase lists, random book pages, song lyrics. Yes, song lyrics are literature! The alphabet has made a brief appearance, as has the disappearance of the “th” dipthong.
Holidays and other major cataclysmic family events have inspired challenges. Characters, inside and outside of family circles, have been used. Works of great art have been held in high esteem, but I have a question.
Where is the love for the liquor cabinet? Come on. What would The Razor’s Edge be without absinthe? Birds (Charlotte Mew) did it. B’s (Bobby Burns) did it. Even the educated Algoquin Tablers did it. Let’s do it. Let’s have a drink.
I’m not saying get ripped and write. (Especially if you are under-age.) What’s wrong with a little ode to the night cap? Okay warm milk, tea, you name it.
Cheers.
