Super Bowl XLIV

I remember growing up with football in the house. My dad was obsessed. He loved football, and by association I loved it as well. At first I never got it, but each week when I got a chance to sit and watch a game with him, my dad would explain anything I asked.

I grew up watching greats like Joe Montana, Emmit Smith, Jerry Rice, Andre Reed, Dan Marino, and Troy Aikman do what they do best with the pigskin.

The best time I could ever remember with my dad and football were the Super Bowls. My dad would make it an event. He never really had people over; but we always had snacks, got dressed in football jerseys (which were always too big for me) and we would cheer for the underdogs.

Tonight was Super Bowl XLIV.

Tonight was the first night in my entire life that I wasn’t able to enjoy the underdog win with my dad. It was sad that I couldn’t high five him for the onside kick, or for the game winning TD.

What mattered though was I knew he was watching, and he knew I was watching.

Go Saints Go!
