Repentance - Part III
“Kidnapped by whom?” Jacob looked at Gabriel incredulously. He didn’t know whether to believe him or not. “Then again, he is God’s Messenger,” Jacob thought.
“We don’t know, that’s what we need you to find out.” Gabriel took one last puff from his cigarette and put it out on his jacket. The black and grey stain instantly dissolving away on his white suit.
“You know Michael and I don’t see eye to eye, so why me?” Jacob asked.
“You were his equal at one time long past.” Gabriel said dusting off the remaining ashes off his suit, now clean as the pure snow. “If it weren’t for you bowing out of the Wars, you could’ve been the Captain, and Michael would be just another archangel. Keep in mind, he is still your brother.”
“I’m not my brother’s keeper.” Jacob snarled, as lightening struck the steeple again.
“I’ve heard that before, from another brother, and you know what happened to him.”
Jacob stood silent, his head low, after a long silence, he rose his head and said, “I’ll do it.”
