Tiled Room
“I think there is something you should see,” said the lieutenant. He was still wearing the CBRN suit but had removed the mask and hood.
He led us to a room near the loading dock that was tiled, floor, walls and ceiling. The door had a gas tight seal and fluorescent lights hung by chains from the ceiling. Stainless steel workbenches and the remnants of several large industrial bottles atop them lined one wall. The room had a smell to it that reminded me vaguely of a sick room. A mop and bucket was propped in the corner. A yellow plastic drum, looking like an oversized medicine bottle stood to one side. Two sets of rubberized pants and cloaks, along with two gas masks that looked like a cross between an aardvark and an elephant lay on one of the tables.
“I think this is where they transferred the VX.” said the lieutenant. He picked up one of the empty industrial bottles. “Hydrogen Peroxide. They would use it for decontamination. And they used some older style Russian NBC suits.”
