Distractions
“Whatever, Neal.” replied Mandy, putting her head back down. It was sort of flattering that Neal was paying attention to her…he’d never said a word to her before, and suddenly today, they were talking like friends? Weird. Mandy tried to ignore Neal as he spent the rest of homeroom slowly doing the worksheet, glancing over at her several times a minute and hissing, “Look Mandy I AM DOING IT” in a weird Scottish accent. It was very distracting.
Suddenly something else distracted Mandy, however- Cy walked into the room just as the bell to start classes began. He walked up to the teacher, Mr. Grable, and handed him a note. Mr. Grable read it and then strode to the front of the class. Cy remained by Grable’s desk, looking extremely awkward. Mandy waved.
“Class, we have a new student, this is Cyril Green-” started Mr. Grable.
“Uh, it’s Cy…?” said Cy quietly.
“Cy, alright, class, this is Cy Green. Please take a seat, Mr. Green. You may observe for today and then see me after class for your assignments.”
