As much as I love this, the last statement doesn’t really work. A cold case is an open/unsolved, whereas this one seems to be more recent. Still, great that there’s only one thing. This is becoming one jewel encrusted crime novel.

But does he have more than one at a time? And if so, where does he keep them?

If kept in the same place do they communicate? If there is only one at a time, do they find evidence of previous occupants of the place?

You captured the tension perfectly! I’m waiting in the wings to see how the reporter can re-enter. I hope someone else jumps in.

Great writing as always, and it’s cool to see a coop story. that’s always awesome. I like her attitude and the neat play on words there at the end. Cool feel to the whole thing, very gritty cop stuff through and through.
